More magic!

Okay I do admit I have to work on the felting process. See the creases in the finished basket? I just put the thing in the washing machine on a hot and quite long program with a load of towels. It came out as a ball and I had a hard time pulling parts apart which should not have been feltet together.

The magic however! First of all, actually producing a real knitted moebius, then turning that in to a basket like thing. Then, seeing a limp piece of knitted fabring turning into a nice sturdy basket (even though it has creases). Now all this was planned. What I didn't expect though was how the colours changed from poopy to earthy. What a nice surprise when it came out of the washing machine!

In the meantime I started a tentacle bag from the same book. People have asked me 'What is that THING you're knitting??* And true, it looks more like a THING than anything else. I am sure though, that it magically will become a tentacle bag soon.

Now on the felting issue: I guess there are several things I could do different. 1. felt less long 2. felt less hot and 3. felt without putting too much other stuff in the washing machine. So this is a cry for help to experienced felters: Which of these would you say is the best (or all of them)? Hoping for comments!

Hi Rineke! Came to pay you a visit in turn. Sorry, I can't help you with the felting issue. I've felted mittens and slippers in the washing machine, and sometimes I've had to use even my teeth to get the "merged" pieces apart :D Nice basket, anyway. And a very interesting book (thanks for the hint)

I think it depends on the yarn as well, in my experience single strand yarn merges easily with itself. One idea is to put a plastic bag inside your knitted bag and secure it with a few stitches of acrylic yarn

Thanks for the advice! I cannot see myself sweating over a washing board so I'll keep chucking the stuff into the washing machine and pull and sweat afterwards. The trick with the plastic bag sounds good, I'll try it!
