Books and other wishful thinking
One of the real fun things about knitting is, apart from actually doing it, thinking and dreaming about future projects. If I had knit everything I have dreamed of of knitting, we would have to move to another house or start a shop. Also fun is not to think and dream about future projects, but to think and dream about future purchases of yarn, needles, books and other things related to knitting. So I do have a wishlist which consist of several types of yarn (noro, soy silk, sari silk), books and so and knitting needles in bamboo, rosewood or other kinds of nice woods.
Now I made a great deal with myself. Since I am trying to change my eating habits (from fat- and sugar-laden to ridiculous amounts of greens, low fat and no refined stuff), I'll give myself a present that is knitting related. Today I ordered my first present: The book 'a second treasury of magical knits'. I fell in love with the jester-bag pattern as soon as I saw it (it can turn into a hat!), and the other stuff in it looks fabulous as well. This is my reward for a first week of good eating habit!
I had to order the book from Amazon in the US - they do not have it in the UK. It will cost me more in shipping :-((
Next weeks' reward: yarn for the bag!
Upon hearing about this deal my husband said: Well this can become expensive! And yes he is right! I'll have to reconsider the deal in a couple of months...
Other news: My shawl (see one of the first posts) is finished. Picture to be posted soon. My husband (it turned out) hates the colour. When I asked him next time to tell me before I start knitting, he said: No if you like it you should knit and wear it.
I take it that this is a way of being nice and supportive. I am sure it is meant that way. I am not sure everybody would take it as such.
Also as I already suspected, it turned out a bit short. I'll have to wear it with a broche in the front or it will fall of my shoulders.
I also took pictures of the finished potholders, which btw my mom liked very much. The camera is at home, though, and I am at work so I can't do it now.
Unfun 1.: The knitting books I ordered from the library all bounced because there is a large queue for them. So large that I can not be considered for the queue! Bugger.
2. I can not seem to find the yarn I winded for a lace shawl, and the pattern that I got when I bought it this summer at a local fair. Bugger too.
