Breastfeeding
...one of the wonders of motherhood. But why did nobody think of knitters when they invented it? You sit on the couch, or wherever, and just sit. Of course you should just enjoy it and do nothing else once in a while, but believe me, after two years and still three times a day (I have a child with allergy for cowmilk that's why) a lot of the time with just sitting there seems just wasted. I would rather be knitting, as it says on the t-shirts you can buy at the knitty shop. The thing is, you can't really. Either the child lacks support, and when you go creative with cushions and stuff you still are in an akward position. Not to mention the danger of those sticky things going places where you do not want them to go. I tried. I failed. What you really need in that situation is an extra set of arms. Picture that! You could be knitting always! Even while changing a diaper, brushing your teeth, driving the car (no intricate patterns, though).
In the meantime, I knit when we're at the table, and I am finished eating but not everybody else. Or when I am playing a game with my eldest and she takes a long time when it is her turn. And sometimes while I am cooking. I do not knit when I am at work, or when I am visiting people. Maybe I should.
In the meantime picture this! Potholders! Almost finished.
