new new new

So I have several things to report: First, another type of binglebangle has been born: the one with beads. For this one I actually bought new yarn, so I could have the same colour in different hues - see how it gets lighter at the top?

Second, for the first time in my life I attended a knitting meeting. It was fun being in a room with people knitting all sorts of things (no men though). A rather wellknown knitting designer, Sys Fredens, came and talked to us and showed us some techniques and had a lot of nice yarns with her (oh - the cashmere....). Didn't buy anything, though. What I did find out is that I actually purl in a different way than Danes do. They scoop around the from up front while I take the yarn from the back. See, this happens when you teach your self to knit in an other way than you learned your self (continental in stead of UK method). So I do not knit continental after all... It doesn't matter because I still get the same result, and actually I suspect that my method is faster - although I might be prejudiced. Like the idea that knitting in the round with 4 needles is easier than with five - the question is for whom, of course. People are creatures of habit and will often stick to their old tricks.
Also I met some ladies from the yahoo group, which was really nice. They're off to Silkeborg to the knitting festival this weekend .... I can't go :-((

Third, I took up sockknitting again, which I should have done long ago. It is a present for my dad. So the UFO's are, for the time being:

socks for dad (one down, one to go)
tentacle bag (2 tentacles down, 4 to go)
and I hate to admit, but I have a doll blanket lying around with only the edge to be finished....
oh, and the crocheted spidershawl, of course

Plans (I need to write them down, my mind is getting overflowed with all of the ideas for knitting I get nowadays)

a knitted doll a la knitted babes - they are so cool. I like their whimsicalness.
several beanies/caps (I'll tell you later WHY) - the lace one from alterknits, and at least one from Lena Blidells hat book
pair of mittens (from Anna Zilboorgs book)
felted case for my powerbook (Alterknits)
small purse for my keys, cell phone and money
ruffled kerchief

well let's keep it at that!
